Equus Bass 770 REAL POWER Under this Hood

Equus Bass 770 REAL POWER Under this Hood

Tucked quietly in a back corner of Michigan Hall is an intriguing new car creating buzz at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. At first glance, the Equus Bass 770 may appear to be a classic Ford Mustang, but a closer look reveals a limited-production supercar dressed in vintage clothing. This modern muscle car evokes the passion of the great designs and nameplates of the 1960s and 1970s, incorporating styling elements from a number of different models but most noticeably the silhouette and fastback roofline of the iconic Ford Mustang. Beneath classic lines lie the latest elements of automotive technology — an aluminum chassis, aluminum body lined with carbon fiber, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, GM's Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

The Bass 770 is powered by the General Motors LS9 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that also powers theChevrolet C6 Corvette ZR1. The 640 horsepower is delivered through a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Performance specs from Equus indicate a top speed of 200 mph and 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Inside, the Bass 770 combines high-end luxury with modern ergonomics while still paying homage to 1960s muscle. The interior is wrapped in hand-stitched leather with an Alcantara headliner and bright metal accents. Modern equipment includes automatic climate control, GPS navigation and CD/DVD entertainment system.

Produced by Equus Automotive in Rochester Hills, Mich., the Bass 770 has been under development for six years and starts at $250,000. Options include wheels, colored or chromed brake calipers, additional lights, black chrome trim, engine cover and upgraded audio system. Equus Bass 770 Muscle Car Promo

Equus Bass 770 Muscle Car Promo

While the big American automakers continue to battle for market share in the muscle car segment, one boutique manufacturer in Michigan has developed its own interpretation of the genre. The Equus Bass 770 is an unashamed impersonator that mixes the old world and the new ... a muscle car with a taste for life's little luxuries. With a name that sounds more like a horse trailer with a thumpin' stereo system than a muscle car, Equus' Bass 770 is all about the modern day realization of a "what if" scenario. What if you took DNA from a 1967 Mustang Fastback, a 1968 and a 2013 Camaro, plus a '71 Plymouth Satellite, and stirred it all up in a big aluminum pot? The answer just might be the Equus Bass 770. More Mustang than anything else, the car communicates old world design in a variety of ways.

The fastback, roofline and overall profile speak of mid-60's Mustangs. The front end is a mish-mash of 70's Chrysler and new-age Camaro headlight treatments, the taillights recall late 60s Chrysler products and ... we could go on, but you get the picture. This is a mixed bag. The Bass 770's muscle is provided by a 640 hp supercharged aluminum V8. These power figures, in partnership with 605 lb.ft of torque and a 6-speed manual gearbox, translate into a reported 0- 60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time of only 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph (321 km/h). Unlike the inspirational cars that the Bass 770 plays homage to, the handcrafted interior of this car isn't what you'd call bare-bones. It's saturated in black leather with more that a hint of chrome and the retro steering wheel sits proudly next to the console mounted touch screen.

Equus has used an aluminum chassis to keep weight down and performance figures up. The Bass 770 tips the scales at a hefty 3640 lb. (1650 kg). A "superformed aluminum body" with carbon fiber inners is in place to enhance structural rigidity and strength.Equss Bass 770 Peugeot Ferrari Lamborghin Future Jaguar Drifting Corvette "North American International Auto Show" "Acura TLX" Honda Civic Coupe "Toyota FT-1 Concept Car" Cars Nissan Auto "Detroit Auto Show" Volkswagen "test drive" premiere 2015 racing driving engine startup exhaust motor trend car and driver autoblog youtube New Race Burnout Mercedes-Benz 2014 Great Britain Hybrid energy efficient "Equus Bass 770".

The muscle car rolls on big 255/40 ZR19 tires up front and 285/40 ZR19's on the back and decaleration comes via Brembo brake calipers and carbon ceramic discs. And, unlike a 1965 Mustang, Equus has seen to incorporating key driving technology into the car. Items like Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Performance Traction Management, an Active Handling System with traction control and variable-ratio power steering are noted as standard on the Bass 770. Although Equus' Bass 770 is retro-pretty, it's not cheap. Orders vary from US$250,000 for a fully equipped model to $290,000.

Aston Martin DBC Concept Car

Aston Martin DBC Concept Car

Aston Martin's portfolio of vehicles has and probably always will be about class, sophistication and luxury. An engine in the front, drive in the rear, and an interior stocked top to bottom with high-quality materials. Thus, an in-your-face, mid-engine supercar may very well leave Aston Martin engineers scoffing at the notion. But why shouldn't Aston build a bonafide mid-engine halo car to compete with the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, and a few others? Especially when it looks as dapper as this. From the mind of designer Samir Sadikhov (the same artist responsible for the Ferrari Xezri), the DBC concept comes with a signature set of Aston Martin lines, albeit with a few minor modifications.

The front end gets a sleek new makeover, the back end follows suit, and the whole thing is pulled together seamlessly on a frame that sits what seems like centimeters off the ground. As with most design studies, Samir didn't conceptualize a drivetrain, but we wouldn't expect anything less than to see a beautiful Aston Martin V12 mounted right in the center, putting out somewhere in the market of 800 horsepower (...hey, we can speculate). Aston, take notice-- your One-77 has been replaced. Samir Sadikhov, designer originally from Azerbaijan, offers 3D images of stunning quality of a concept car Aston Martin DBC. It was inspired by the race car DBR1 to imagine this concept with impressive design highlighted by a 3D rendered beautiful effect. More after the jump.

This time around though he's chosen the British car makers at Aston Martin for his Aston Martin DBC supercar concept.

Seeing that the One-77 is no longer in production, it's not far-fetched to think that Aston Martin could be working on a new supercar to compete with the big dogs. This mid-engine powered vehicle looks nothing like anything the brand currently makes, but still looks like something the brand could put out at the same time. The vehicle was designed to look like a "muscular athlete wearing a tailor-made suit."

2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster $4.6 Million Most Expensive Car

The unique audio system features Monster's breakthrough technology Pure Monster Sound, specially tuned by Head Monster Noel Lee, the audio innovator behind the sound of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.
Monster claim the system is as close to live music as being on stage with the musicians, and having checked it out at CES, we'd have to agree.
Noel Lee said, "Producing a sound stage for this car is a particular delight for me and I am proud that Lamborghini placed its trust in Monster to do this. Lamborghini stands out as being the best Italian luxury super sports car manufacturer and it's a privilege for me to be onboard with this project."
Sadly, if you want to lay your hands on one (and have the requisite £3m-odd) you'll have to be quick, as only nine of the supercars will be produced.
For most of us, the wail of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster's 750 horsepower V12 is enough.

But for that infinitesimal remainder of the earth's population who can afford one of the four remaining Veneno Roadsters (which run €3.3 million, or approximately $4.6 million apiece) and crave musical accompaniment for their on-road antics, there's a ray of auditory hope.
It took a thorough review of the car's engineering intricacies, the assistance of several technicians from the Lamborghini factory, and over two weeks of installation time, but a multimedia-enabled version of the previously stereo-less Veneno is now a reality thanks to the dudes at Monster Audio-- specifically, head honcho Noel Lee, a colorful character who scoots around on a gold-plated Segway, wears a Jaeger LeCoultre tourbillon, and yes, owns one of the 9 ultra-rare steeds.
We managed a brief stint of seat time in the Rosso Veneno roadster during its CES debut, and the sound-- as expected-- was full, clear, and rich. Lee stresses that their focus wasn't just on hip-hoppy bass frequencies, but on "... vocal articulation, transient response, and dynamics."

The 10-speaker, 1,000+ watt system is controlled via an Android-based touchscreen at the top of the windscreen, and targets driver and passenger with dashboard, door, and headrest-mounted speakers. The effect, at least based on our brief listen of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," seems potent enough to put up a decent fight against the racous volume of the mid-mounted V12. But the question for gearheads and audiophiles alike remains: would you want to?

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been unveiled - it's an open-top version of the supercar that Lamborghini revealed at the 2013 Geneva motor show and just nine will be built.
Like the hard-top version, the Veneno Roadster is based on the Aventador and has a 6.5-litre V12 engine. The 740bhp unit is mated to a seven-speed "ISR" transmission; drive is to all four wheels and there's a "racing chassis" with pushrod suspension and horizontal spring and damper units.
Lamborghini quotes a 0-62mph time of 2.9sec and a top speed of 221mph. Ferrari's 2014 Driver Lineup F1 F3 F4 Review

Ferrari's 2014 Driver Lineup F1 F3 F4 Review

Scuderia Ferrari  is the racing team division of the Ferrari automobile marque. The team mainly races in Formula One but has also competed in many other series in numerous levels of motorsport since its formation in 1929, including sportscar racing. It is the oldest surviving team in Grand Prix racing, having competed since 1932, and statistically the most glorious and successful Formula One team in history with a record of 15 drivers' championships and 16 constructors' championships.
The team was founded by Enzo Ferrari, initially to race cars produced by Alfa Romeo, though by 1947 Ferrari had begun building its own cars. As a constructor, Ferrari has 16 constructors' championships, seven more than second-placed Williams. The great number of victories in Formula One added to many other successes in several categories have made of Ferrari one of the most successful and prestigious automotive sports teams ever: among the most important achievements should be mentioned World Sportscar Championship, 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, races for Grand tourer cars, and the three most prestigious world class racing on road course (Targa Florio, Mille Miglia and Carrera Panamericana).

Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Phil Hill, John Surtees, Niki Lauda, Jody Scheckter, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen have all won drivers world championships driving for the team. The team's current drivers are Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen.
Despite still having a year of his contract remaining Räikkönen left Ferrari and was replaced by the double world champion Fernando Alonso.

The 2010 season started with Fernando Alonso leading a Ferrari 1--2, with Massa second, at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix. However, after seven races Ferrari were lying third in the Constructors Championship, following a string of low points finishes. After the 2010 German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, Ferrari remained third in the constructors championship following a controversial 1--2 finish, where leader Felipe Massa was seemingly asked by the team to give the position to Fernando Alonso. The enforced and deliberate swapping of places reminded many fans of the 2002 incident where Rubens Barrichello was asked to cede the lead of the Austrian Grand Prix to eventual winner Michael Schumacher, who invited Barrichello onto the first-place spot on the podium after gauging the spectators reaction, trying to soften the blow of the final result. That incident led to a ban on team orders. Thus, the Stewards deemed Ferrari to be in breach of both that regulation and guilty of bringing the sport into disrepute, fining the team $100,000 -- the maximum penalty race stewards can impose. The incident was also referred to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for review. Alonso won further races at Monza, Singapore and the inaugural race in Korea as he finished the season as runner-up to Sebastian Vettel.

In 2009 Ferrari announced that Felipe Massa would continue to partner Fernando Alonso until at least the end of the 2012 season. Ferrari launched its 2011 car, the Ferrari 150° Italia in January 2011, with Ford declaring intentions to sue over the use of the F150 name -- under which the car had been launched -- Ferrari began referring to the car as the "F150th Italia". In March 2011, the car's name was changed again to "150º Italia", with the Italian language ordinal indicator º being used to replace the English language -th. Ford and Ferrari also settled their legal matter, asking for the case to be dismissed at a court in Detroit.

The 2012 season saw Ferrari continue with the driver pairing of the previous two years of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa,] with Alonso once again narrowly missing out on the drivers' title.
In 2011 Alonso renewed his contract with Ferrari to at least the end of the 2016 season. Massa renewed his contract for one more season alongside Alonso.  Ferrari's car for the 2013 Formula One season is the Ferrari F138. Massa was replaced by Kimi Räikkönen for 2014, while Alonso was retained.

New BMW i8 Review - Fuel Efficient and Dynamic

New BMW i8 Review - Fuel Efficient and Dynamic

BMW 's supercar, the M1 , was sold between 1978 to 1981 as the only mid-engined BMW to be mass produced. But you'd expect more from a maker like BMW, right? And with all the competition on the market, BMW had to do something about it, so they decided to put the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show into production. There is one distinct change for the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept as it heads into production, as BMW changed its name to the i8. Along with the recently announced i3, the i8 shows the other end of the spectrum that the German automaker can reach with its hybrid drivetrains. The production i8 will, surprisingly, carry the concept's in-line three-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor to drive the front wheels.

As of now, there is only one i8 model set for production, but we have a sneaking suspicion that there may be an M or M Sport model in coming years. When BMW first announced it's plans to put the Vision Efficient Dynamics into production, a company source said: "there will be less of the synthetic glass and more solid structure added to the final design." How can this be translated? The i8 will be built on an aluminum chassis which houses the powertrain and the passenger cell. This cell consists of high-strength, but extremely lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Thanks to its use of CFRP and aluminum, the i8 will weight less than 3,285 pounds. The car's front will be defined by the now famous kidney grille and two large air intakes. The gull-wing doors will be replaced by standard ones and the rear will get a quad exhaust system.

We can see from the leaked image (above) that the i8 retains most of its overall look, and even carries over the scissor doors from the concept model. Gone is the huge door glass and the exaggerated blue highlight. Renderings are oftentimes guesswork, but our i8 rendering was pretty spot on — cue the horn tooting. the only places that we really missed were the blue outline on the grille, the charging port on the front fender and the blue highlight just below the door. Additionally, our positioning and shading on the hood-mounted heat extractor are a little off. The BMW i8 offers room for four adults, thanks to its 2+2 seating layout. The partition between the passenger compartment and boot is made from two layers of chemically hardened glass that ensures excellent acoustic properties.

The seats and the instrument panel are trimmed in a special leather tanned with olive leaf extract, a method that offers the leather a particularly high-quality and natural look. BMW designed the instrument panel and the center console using a "layering" principle. As standard feature, the i8 is offered with an iDrive operating system, a bespoke sports steering wheel with multifunction buttons.

The i8 is offered in a standard Neso trim level, with Carpo and Halo equipment lines offered as an option. The i8 features a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that delivers 231 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. Driving the front wheels make use of an electric motor that produces 131 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Combined, the entire driveline produces 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and runs this power through a six-speed automatic transmission connected to the gasoline engine and a two-stage transmission on the electric motor. The i8 has a pair of drive modes: "D" and "Sport." In the "D" mode, the transmission shifts automatically and comfort takes precedence over performance.

In "Sport" mode, the i8's engine and transmission are optimized to deliver excellent performance. Additionally, the "Sport" mode maximizes the electric motor's "boost" to the gasoline engine. Another mode selector on the center console, dubbed the Driving Experience Control switch, the driver can choose between "Comfort" and "ECO PRO" mode. Comfort gives you the perfect balance between sport and economy, and is the base setting upon start up. With "ECO PRO" activated, the i8 becomes even more fuel efficient. "ECO PRO" programs the electronic accessories to minimize consumption.
